Mini Book Review: Ten TIny Breaths by K. A. Tucker

Title: Ten Tiny Breaths
Author: K. A. Tucker
File type: ebook
Release date: December 11th, 2012
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance

Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Kacey can swallow the constant disapproval from her born-again aunt Darla over her self-destructive lifestyle; she can stop herself from going kick-boxer crazy on Uncle Raymond when he loses the girls’ college funds at a blackjack table. She just needs to keep it together until Livie is no longer a minor, and then they can get the hell out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.
Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.
But Kacey isn’t the only one who’s broken. Seemingly perfect Trent has an unforgiveable past of his own; one that, when discovered, will shatter Kacey’s newly constructed life and send her back into suffocating darkness.

Kacey has a lot on her plate. She has to provide for her sister,Livie after the escaped their uncle who tried to make a move on Livie. She is still having trouble with losing her parents, best friend and boyfriend in a car crash. But she meets Trent,a mysterious guy,who moved into the same building the same day they did. Kacey is on a sex fast after she figured out it doesn't help her forget the past. But she can't shake the attraction she shares with Trent.

For me,they moved a little too fast. Wish they took their time to get to know each other better. I didn't get why did Kacey fall so fast for Trent after staying away from guys for two years. Where did that came from? Is he so irresistible she has to stop herslef from jumping his bones every time she sees him? We also discover Trent's dark secret and watch him deal with it,along with Kacey.

The first part didn't work for me at all,but the second is much more enjoyable. I guess you have to go crazy to please me.

  1. Yes we've talked about this one! I agree I don't see the point of kick-butt character if she melts as soon as she sees blue eyes (not that I don't like blue eyes) but I mean!
    Great review :)

    1. I always wonder why do author give their characters such annoying habits. If I ever wrote a book my MC would not be a man-crazy tomboy.

    1. It wasn't that bad if you can look past all the idiotic things MC does in the first part of the book.
