Top Ten Tuesday #30

I haven't participated in this meme since 2014! :O It's good to be back! I probably won't post every week.

This week's topic is Books that have been on my TBR the longest and I still haven't read. Most of my picks are embarrassing cause I'm really bad at reading books with a lot of pages.

1. Noughts & Crosses by Malorie Blackman - I have the boxed set. Since 2012, I think. So embarrassing.
2. The Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson - The case of huge book syndrome. I have the first 5 books and they are collecting books on my bookshelf. Has anyone read it?
3. The Brides of Rollrock Island by Margo Lanagan - Got this as a early b-day present from mom a couple of years ago and I've been avoiding it cause I don't want to be disappointed. All of my friends seem to adore this book.
4. The Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent - I kind of want to read past book 1 because of Tod. He's a cutie.
5. Hush, Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick - Ehhh... This series. This came during the Twilight craze so the romance is super unhealthy.
6. Going Bovine by Libba Bray - Dust collector. I love Libba but her books are loooong.
7. Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta - It's a known fact Marchetta is amazing and allegedly, so is this trilogy. Will read it before I die. For now they're dust collectors.
8. Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor - I'm probably the only one who hasn't finished this trilogy. I wasn't a fan of the first book. :/ It was meh for me.
9. Beauty Queens by Libba Bray - Libba, Libba, Libba. I want to read this but the size is turning me off.
10. A Little Wanting Song by Cath Crowley - My friends love this book and it's been years since they read it. What am I waiting for? I dunno.

Top Ten Tuesday #29

This weeks Top 10's super fun! I really had hard time picking out just 10 covers because they have gotten really pretty over the last couple of years.

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea- One of the main reasons I decided to buy this book was the cover. The dangerous cliff, the gothic font and the couple on the top just screamed buy me! buy me!

A World Without Princes- I still haven't bought this book but I'm planing on doing it after I read the first one. I've heard there are pretty illustrations inside as well.

Seraphina- This cover has such an impressive line art. Wow!

Every Day- I like the vision behind this cover-male and female bodies falling. And I love the break on the left side. I don't think I've ever seen something like that on a book cover before.

Blue Lily, Lily Blue- Honestly, I could've put The Dream Thieves cover instead of this book because I love that one as well. Maggie has the best luck with her cover designs. All of them are great.

Heir of Fire- I love the pose Celaena struck, her bow and for the first time I prefer the US cover over the UK one, mainly because of the background. I think it works better with the colors of the robe, hair and face.

Fangirl- Rainbow Rowell. Another author with wonderful cover. I like this cover a lot because it appeals to my inner fangirl and makes me proud to be one. I just wish there were illustration inside as well because I wanted to see those two guys kissing. haha

Kinslayer- Slayage! Badassery! I'm going to be completely honest. I bought Stormdancer and Kinslayer because of the covers. I still haven't read the books. They've been sitting on my shelf begging to be picked up.

Plus One- Whoever designed with cover is a genius. I've actually read this book was back, before it even had the cover and once it was revealed I said to myself they did it because it matches the story really well. Boy living during the day and the girl during night time. His pink, fluffy clouds with her dark stars! Oh! Just perfect! And the gradient title is lovely as well.

Unravel Me- At first I was mad about the cover change because I bought the original hardcover with the girl in a dress. I knew my books wouldn't match and I was so pissed! I didn't like it at all. But I did even eventually fell in love with it.

Top Ten Books That Will Make You Cry

I didn't know where to start with this list. I already made a 'cry fest' shelf on Goodreads and I had to think about which books actually made me cry the most.

Most of them were sad tears. I think I cried the most while reading The Storyteller and you can read my gif review HERE . This book shook me pretty hard. Forbidden was hard to read but The Storyteller was just another totally different thing.

I would recommend all of them to anyone. You can't miss these books. Please read them, please.

Top Ten Books I Wouldn't Mind Santa Bringing Me

I've already read 5 books on this list but I REALLY, REALLY want them in my collection because I think they're some of the best books I've ever read. I think I'm going to ask my mom to get me a hardcopy of Lola and the Boy Next Door for my birthday in January ( I have to have that super pretty cover) and treat myself with Jellicoe Road after I pre-order a couple of January new releases. At least I hope I'll get it since I'm not even sure if I'll have any money.
Still need to read Everbound, Amelia Anne is Dead and Gone, Wings of the Wicked, Antigoddess and The Killing Woods. Hope to order them sometime next year.

Top Ten Best Sequels

It was hard to make this list. There are so many books I adore.

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins / Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver / It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han / Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead / The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa

The easiest pick would be Lola. I love, love, LOVE Lola and Cricket. Stephanie P. is a genius. The reason I  loved Pandemonium is Julian. I wasn't the biggest fan of Delirium but the sequel was just marvelous. Summer trilogy was heartbreaking and will forever be on my top ten lists. Shadow Kiss. Oh, this blasted book! I didn't see it coming! I had to wait months till I found out what happened next. The Eternity Cure was also excellent and Julie did a wonderful job with her characters, especially with Kanin.

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare / Red Glove by Holly Black / Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi / Seduced in the Dark by C.J. Roberts / Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning

CPrince was crazy intense. Since I'm Team Will I knew what what going to happen and all I could do was watch him pour his heart out to Tessa in vain. :( sniff, sniff  Red Glove! OMG! People! I know there are so many of you who haven't even picked this trilogy up! Please, please, read these books now! I don't even know where to start with Red Glove and Black Heart. Unravel Me! Chapter 62! Warner! His real name! Feels! So many feels! Let me die! Go away while I cry in my room alone! Seduced in the Dark. OK. I actually stayed up all night and read this book. I couldn't put it down. I cried! I yelled! I squeeled!  I flailed! I was basically a mess while reading it. Shadowfever is probably one of the best sequels ever written. It has Mac, Barrons, some more Barrons, feels and Barrons being sexy as hell.

Top Ten Books On My Fall 2013 TBR list

Every Day by David Levithan / Fangirl and Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell / Golden by Jessi Kirby / The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp

My Fall TBR pile is full of books I already own or that have been ordered. I'm still waiting for Every Day, Fangirl, Eleanor and Park and Golden to arrive. I read Rainbow's Attachments last spring and loved it! Can't wait to read her two newest books soon! Every Day has been on my wishlist since forever and I finally ordered a paperback for myself. I won Golden a few months ago but the blogger forgot to order it for me until last month. And I plan to order and read The Spectacular Now before I see the movie.

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J.Maas / Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff / Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta / Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo / In the Shadow of the Blackbirds by Cat Winters

I have the first four books on the second part of the list. I don't have a legitimate excuse why I still haven't read these. I guess, I wasn't in the fantasy mood. But I will read them all! I swear! Poor Finnikin. He's been sitting on my shelf for almost two years. The other three I got this summer. And I really want to read In the Shadow of the Blackbirds. Seems like such an interesting book.

Since I finally found a job (only till the second half of October, but who cares, it's still paid in cash which means-more books) I won't have much time to read. The job is pretty stressful and it's from 9AM till 9PM for 15 days straight. Whoever has the strength to read after that is a true hero.

Top Ten Books I Wish Could Have Had Sequels

Where She Went by Gayle Forman / Stolen by Lucy Christopher / White Cat by Holly Black / My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares / Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

I'm well aware Where She Went and White Cat are/have sequels but I don't think I'll ever get tired of these stories. Stolen had the sort of ending which makes you want to write horrible fanfiction with the heroes reconnecting in some alternative universe, just like in My Name is Memory.  And I always want more of Marchetta.

Lovely, Dark and Deep by Amy McNamara / How To Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo / Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly / If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin / Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

Lovely, Dark and Deep and If He Had Been With Me should have sequels because I need to read about the part where the characters get over the hardship they've gone through. Tiffanie is just genius and I have no doubt she could cook up an interesting drama for the sequel. Revolution was perfect as it is and I just wish Jennifer Donnelly would write a similar book for YA readers soon. I miss her work. And Rainbow Rowell writes these bubbly books which make me very happy. Who doesn't need more happy thoughts in their lives?

Top Ten Books Most Intimidating Books

A Note of Madness by Tabitha Suzuma / The Fault In Our Stars by John Green / Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein / Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta / Split by Swati Avasthi

I'm actually scared to find out what these books hide inside. I'm pretty sure they are all heart-breaking, maybe all except Finnikin. It will take a lot of persuasion to get me to read them.

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys / Crank by Ellen Hopkins / The Diviners by Libba Bray Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor Enshadowed by Kelly Creagh

These books are here based on their size, except Between Shades of Gray. I've been having problems committing to a book with more than 320 pages. I'm not sure when I'm finally going to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Maybe when the third book comes out so I'll have the complete collection and it will be easier. I also hate waiting for a sequel more than 6 months.

Top Ten Books I've Read So Far In 2013

If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin / Lovely, Dark and Deep by Amy McNamara / Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley / Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly / Just One Day by Gayle Forman

The first two books on this list are a lot darker than the others and I will never stop recommending them to anyone who is willing to listen. Graffiti Moon and Just One Day are similar because everything happens in a matter of day and I've read Revolution in January. Jennifer Donnelly deserves all the rewards.

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi / White Cat by Holly Black / The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa / First Comes Love by Katie Kacvinsky / Torched by Andrea Lynn Colt

Unravel Me. Hold me while I swoon all over the place. If I could pick just THE book of 2013 it would be Unravel Me. TEAM (my husband) WARNER! White Cat was so cool. Wish I could con people with Cassel. I was a part of the official blog tour for The Eternity Cure and I loved it so much even though some of my friends didn't. First Comes Love and Torched are must reads! Most people don't even know they exist but like the first two books on this list, I will always recommend them to others.

Top Ten Beach Reads

1. Any Elizabeth Scott novel - I love all Elizabeth's novels and especially Stealing Heaven and Bloom. Her books are perfect for summer.

2. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta - This book reminds me of scorching hot summer days and nights. I would recommend reading it while you're sweating like a pig to connect better with the characters. :P

3. Summer trilogy by Jenny Han - Jenny Han is a mastermind when it comes to beach reads. These 3 books are so perfect. I loved them even before I got my hands on them.

4. Summer in the City by Elizabeth Chandler - Probably the most underrated book I've ever read. Don't judge it because of the cover. Imagine it having a girl and a guy having the hottest kiss in the hallway.

5. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins - Whoever looks at my former TTT posts will see this book on almost all lists. Why is that? Because I adore this books so, so much! I've read it ages ago and I still remember all the Lola  & Cricket scenes and most of the lines. I'm a Perkins fangirl.

1. From What I Remember by Stacy Kramer and Valerie Thomas- Mexico. Accidental roadtrip. Drunken night. Hilarious Drama. Movie Reference(all most EVERYWHERE!). Really, if you haven't read this book then you know what to get next time. FWIR is fantastic and absolutely fun!

2. The Day Before by Lisa Schroeder- I've always loved Lisa Schroeder and her excellent verse writing-style. The best thing about verse-format books? They're awfully fast paced and equally impacting.

3.The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han- This book manages to capture the idea of summer, first love, beaches and holidays beautifully! Not only is it fairly light, the gooeyness in it is swoony. VERY SWOONY.

4. Flat-out Love by Jessica Park-  While Flat-out Love is Flat out swoony, it's not a book that should be taken lightly. The depth in the storyline and the story in general were heartbreaking and beautiful. Must read.

5. Amy and Roger's Epic Detour- I was a bit confused about this week's TTT. When I heard beaches, I remember summer and weirdly summer reminds me of road trip and this one was ALL roadtrip. With beautiful mementos and a journal like look, I was in love with this one here!

Top Ten Books Featuring Travel In Some Way

  1. Just One Day - Gayle Forman can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.
  2. Saving June - I liked Hannah's Speechless more than Saving June but it was still wonderful.
  3. Take Me There - One of the darker road trip books.
  4. Anna and the French Kiss - They do travel. By plane to France and back to US. So Hah!
  5. Amy and Roger's Epic Detour - The first road trip book I've read.

  1. Revolution - Travelling to France and learning about history. People! You need to read this book!
  2. Wanderlove - This book also has author's sketched. How cool is that?
  3. Unbreak My Heart - The first book about sailing. I loved it.
  4. First Comes Love - Travelling around US with a crazy/interesting girl. A MUST READ!
  5. Two-Way Street - Actually, this is the first road trip book I've read. All I remember there was a lot of fighting between the 2 exes travelling together. hehe

Top Ten Books I HAVE to read in the next two months

I have a lot of books sitting on my shelves and I never read them so I decided to have a short list of the top ten books I just have to/ need to read in both, June and July.

  1. Partials by Dan Wells - I think I put this one up on my Spring top ten list and failed to read it before. I suck. I really do.
  2. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor - I said to my friend Lynn to remind me every once and awhile to read this and Days of Blood and Starlight and she did. Bless her sweet heart. :* Lynn, there you have it! I will read them both soon. Very soon. I promise.
  3. Blood/Fae/Dream/Shadowfever and Iced by Karen Marie Moning - I read Darkfever a couple of days ago and I'm sure these will be on the top of my TBR pile. Barrons is yummy.
  4. The Faults In Our Stars by John Green - This was also on my Spring top ten list and I failed, again. This time I have to succeed and read Paper Towns and An Abundance...along with The Faults In Our Stars.
  5. Black Heart by Holly Black - I'm pretty sure this will be the first book from the list which will get read. I adored White Cat and Red Glove was so heartbreaking. Can't wait to see what Holly has in store for Cassell.

  1. Sever by Lauren DeStefano - The only book in trilogy I still haven't read. Will get to it soon.
  2. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell - This is the only book on the list I don't own already. The reason I didn't order it is that I hate the design on paperback editions and I can't afford a hardcopy. Look at that sweet cover. I read Rowell's Attachments last year and it was such a sweet and touching book. I'm sure this one is too.
  3. Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare - I accidentally read the spoiler on the inside of the jacket flap and I was so upset I didn't wanted to read the book after that. I still don't but at the same time I think I'm missing out on this epic conclusion.
  4. Prodigy by Marie Lu - *sigh* I didn't enjoy Legend as much as I hoped I would. It was one of those dystopian books, Nothing earth-shattering. I won this paperback and I need to read it cause people have been saying it's so much better than Legend.
  5. Grave Mercy by Robin Lafevers - I'm pre-ordering Dark Triumph in paperback next week so I need to get started on the Grave Mercy.

Top Ten Books Dealing With Tough Subjects

  1. If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin - One of this year's biggest surprised. This story is heartbreaking. I recommend it to anyone. Seriously people! This needs to be read.
  2. Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma - Ahh. Forbidden. This book is a killer.
  3. The Storyteller by Antonia Michaelis - This is even a bigger shocker than Forbidden. I feel like this destroyed a piece of my soul after I was done.
  4. Drowning Instinct by Ilsa J. Bick - I read it late last year and I still can't get it out of my mind.
  5. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes - Gah! I'm still mad it ended that way. I won't spoil it for anyone who's interested but it's a must read.

  1. We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver - I borrowed this book from my cousin last year and I couldn't believe my eyes.
  2. Captive in the Dark by C.J. Roberts - The only erotica book on this list. There are erotic books and there is Captive in the Dark. It's the darkest erotic book I've ever read.
  3. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher - One of the first YA books I've read and I still love it after all this time.
  4. Falling Under by Danielle Younge-Ullman - It's sad that not a lot of people read this amazingly depressing book. I assure you, it will bring you down for sure. I was a mess after reading it for days.
  5. Lovely, Dark and Deep by Amy McNamara - Wow! People! This book is truly beautiful. It's hard for me to find the words to describe it.

I didn't reveal much about this list because I didn't wanted to spoil it for those who haven't read it but some of the issues they're dealing are: suicide, murder, kidnapping, rape, massacre, teacher- student relationship, euthanasia.
